I did something like this in the past and everyone seemed to enjoy it. So, why not try it again. Spice things up and get people involved with the forums.

Once a day, or at least I'll try for once a day, I will post some random info you may or may not know about. Most people have heard of the things I post, but it is still fun. Feel free to post whatever random stuff you know. The more the better!

Ok. For the random info for today, I submit to you the fact that only .1% of all the people in the world can lick their own elbow. I have a friend of mine that can do it. He is one of the few. I tried several time but failed at each attempt.lol

The problem of five disks

When Dahizé completed 18 years and 27 days of age it was asked for in marriage for three princes whose names the tradition perpetuated: Aradim, Benefir and Camozã.

King Cassim was undecided. How to choose, between the three rich candidates, that one that would have to be the fiancé of its son? Made the choice, the fatal result would be the following one: it, the king, would gain a son-in-law, but, in exchange, he would acquire two bitter enemies!

The Dahizé princess, consulted, declared that she would married the most intelligent of the passionates. The king ordered to call five wises to submit the three princes a rigorous examinations.

Finished the tests, the wises had presenteda repost to the monarcht. The three princes were all intelligent. How to discover who are the most intelligent?

A wise answer to the king then:

- Only exists a way to determine the most: the test of five disks!

The princes then had been taken to the palace, where the problem was presented:

- Here they are five disks, of which two are black and three whites. Repair that they are of the same size and weight, and they only distinguish for the color. To follow, the wise blindfold the eyes of the princes and, taking randomly three disks, he hung them it the back of the three candidates.

He said then:

- Each one of you has attached in yours back a disk whose color ignores! You will be interviewed one by one. That one who discover the color of the your own disk, will be declared winning. The first one to be interviewed will be able to see the disks of the others two; the second will be allowed to see the disk of the last one. And this one will have to formulate its reply without seeing anything. The one who gave the right answer will have that to justify it with the most rigorous reasoning.

Which will be the first one? Camozã gone. The wise took off it blindfold and, seeing the color of the other disks and consulted in secret. He was not happy in the reply.


- I want to be the next - Benefir declared. Unmasked its eyes, it saw the color of the last disk and formulated its reply incorrectly. Finally, Aradim spoke and with the eyes still blindfold declared, in high voice, the accurate color of its disk.

Which was the reply of Aradim? How he discovered the color of his disk?

what does it mean when u say "interrogated"?
does that mean aradim heard the answers of the other two princes and was told that they were wrong?

Fixed...but answering your question, no Aradim didnt heard the answers of the other two...he only knew that they answered wrong

im guessing the first prince saw the colour of the disks the other princes are holding, and the second prince saw the color of the last prince's disk colour, right?

or did they see the leftover disks?

if the first prince saw both had black disks, he would've correctly guessed that his was white since theres only 2 blacks.

since he didnt guess it right, the other princes have 1 black & 1 white or 2 whites

if the second prince saw the last prince had a black disk, he would've correctly guessed that his was white.

since the second prince got it wrong, the last prince has a white disk

RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^^v
